WCA Bulldog Regiment Information

20150926_173649Marching band is an important part of the “Friday Night tradition” in communities throughout the nation. In 2006, the Bulldog Regiment (formerly the Marching Bulldog Band) made their debut to become a part of this tradition at Wake Christian. The Bulldog Regiment, consisting of both musicians and color guard, serves as the musical link to our community and as such represents the finest things about Wake Christian Academy. Students will play the National Anthem before each home football game, play pep songs in the stands (excluding third quarter break), perform the annual show at each half time, and play the WCA Alma Mater at the end of each game. Other performances will include three parades and approximately three to four Saturday competitions.

Students do not need to participate in band during the school day to audition for the wind or percussion sections of the Bulldog Regiment. Musicians are expected to memorize their music before school begins. Students are required to participate in a two day (four hours each) mini camp and a one week (twelve hours Monday through Thursday and 10 hours Friday) band camp the second half of July. They will also have mandatory rehearsals during school on Monday nights from 6:00 to 8:30 and Wednesdays from 3:15 to 5:00. There may be extra rehearsals for the Color Guard.
Parents should be aware that there is a fee charged for marching band that covers catered dinners for four nights of band camp, instructors, music, transportation, application fees for competitions, and other necessities of marching band. There may also be a fee charged to purchase uniform bibbers, shoes, or gloves for your child to keep. Wake Christian Academy purchases the band jackets and hats the students use. Color Guard members purchase uniforms each year. Contact the band director to learn what the fee total is expected to be for the coming year.
